Dr. Coad of Chelsea Eye Ophthalmology is Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology , is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (F.A.C.S.), and is a top LASIK doctor in NYC. He is an attending physician at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary and part of Continuum Health Partners. He continues to travel the world exchanging ophthalmic skills as a member of the ORBIS team and lectures on his areas of expertise including all laser iLASIK and advanced cataract surgery. Dr. Coad has been named a Top Doctor in Ophthalmology by Castle Connolly Medical.
Dr. Coad graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of California, San Diego and was awarded his MD from the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. He interned at St. Vincent's Hospital and Medical Center in New York City and completed his postgraduate training in Ophthalmology at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary in New York City. Dr. Coad was chosen for an international ophthalmology fellowship with ORBIS , the only international flying eye institute. ORBIS is based on board a jet fully equipped with examination rooms, operating facilities and teaching capabilities.
Dr. Coad has been certified on several laser platforms including the technologically advanced VISX, and Intralase lasers for correction of nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. He’s been performing LASIK, PRK and LASEK since approved by the FDA in the early 1990’s. In addition to the thousands of ophthalmic surgeries and laser procedures he has performed, he has performed laser vision correction on many other physicians as well as multiple staff members at Chelsea Eye Ophthalmology.

Dr. Coad, one of the only ophthalmologists in New York City who offers Visian ICL for the correction of mild to severe myopia (nearsightedness), is also a leader in refractive cataract surgery offering multifocal lens implants such as ReSTOR and Tecnis, accommodative implants like Crystalens and astigmatic correcting Toric implants. He is the director of all general ophthalmic care from contact lenses to glaucoma at Chelsea Eye Ophthalmology.
