Discover the ways that you can use FSA/HSA for better vision.
If you have a flexible spending account (FSA) or health savings account (HSA), you may be wondering how this could help you save money on your vision needs. FSA accounts allow you to set aside pre-taxed money from your paycheck to help you cover some of your medical expenses. An HSA is similar to an FSA, but the main difference is that your money carries over from the year so you don’t lose it. If you don’t use your FSA funds you will lose them.
Some approved payments for FSA/HSA benefits are:
- LASIK surgery: Laser correction surgery such as LASIK is eligible as an FSA/HSA expense. LASIK can correct vision problems such as nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism.
- Your eyeglasses, if you have a prescription. If you need a prescription, you will need to visit one of our NYC eye doctors for a prescription first. Your FSA/HSA may also include prescription sunglasses.
- Your contact lenses, as well as the cases, cleaning solution and anything else you need to take care of your contact lenses. We offer a wide range of contact lenses including weekly and monthlies to fit your lifestyle.
- Your annual exam may be covered by your FSA/HSA. Everyone will need an eye exam each year to make sure their prescription hasn’t changed and that their eyes are healthy. If you need to schedule an appointment it’s as simple as picking up the phone and giving us a call or booking it online.
Many adults need some type of vision correction. While this often comes in the form of glasses or contact lenses, many people are turning to LASIK surgery with our New York ophthalmologist, Dr. Christopher Coad to help them see better.
Chelsea Eye Ophthalmology in New York is here to help you make the most out of your FSA/HSA while also making sure you get the vision care you need!
